Melanie’s at Griffith's Tavern
About This Spot
Stepping into Melanie’s at Griffith's Tavern is like entering a snug corner of Hampden where familiar faces blend effortlessly with new ones. The air hums with gentle laughter and easy conversations, setting a warm and inviting tempo that welcomes both longtime neighbors and curious wanderers. This is a place where the pace slows just enough to savor the moment, yet holds a lively undercurrent fueled by the personalities behind the bar and the community gathered around it.
The bar itself isn’t just about drinks—it’s a gathering ground where the spirit of the neighborhood is poured alongside carefully crafted cocktails. Whether you’re in the mood for a perfectly smooth old fashioned, a refreshing Paloma, or something a little playful like their imaginative flavored jello shots, there’s a thoughtful approach to each pour. The drink menu nods to classic comforts while carving out room for surprises, including mocktails that are given equal attention and care. Snacking here is almost a ritual, enhanced by a selection of bites that feel like the welcoming nudge of a friend lending you chips during a slow night in.
Melanie’s thrives quietly in its tucked-away spot, a reminder that some of the best places are discovered rather than sought. It embraces a relaxed yet spirited vibe where generosity flows just as freely as the drinks. Patrons don’t just come to unwind—they come to connect, to share stories, and to become part of something pleasantly familiar without the fuss. In many ways, this bar feels less like a destination and more like a neighborhood living room where everyone finds a place to settle in.

I could not love this bar more! A warm, friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome. The drink selection is fire and the chips and snacks are just the icing on the cake. So happy to have this watering hole in my neighborhood.

This gem is set in the heart of Hampden. Incredible energy from both bar staff and regulars. I was greeted with enchanting laughter as I walked into the bar . They make a very smooth old-fashioned that's made in-house , I also recommend the Low Life . Drink prices are very cheap, I was here for about 3 hours with 2 other friends of mine and the bill was only 95 bucks. Melanie's at Griffith' Tavern is the real deal.

The bartenders and owners are amazing and super accommodating. As far as neighborhood bars go it’s a hidden gem. They don’t serve food but you can most certainly bring your own or even get it delivered with no issues. If you stop by ask for a low life, diva cup or W.H.Y..

Nice little bar tucked back into a little neighborhood. Great service, they had old fashioned flavored jello shots, alot of different alcohol, beer and seltzers. Along with a very nice snack selection! See photo for reference.

This place is just perfect. The vibes are friendly and relaxed, yet they consistently have cool cocktails and actually take mocktails very seriously. I love them.

Absolutely wonderful hospitality. Our favorite place in Baltimore! The shuffle bowling game is a blast from the past. Who knew 25 cents could buy so much entertainment. Drink prices are very reasonable. The owner bartends and is great to talk with. This is definitely a must visit spot. The owner is attempting to sell the bar. Hoping someone is able to buy it and keep the 7 decade legacy going.

The absolute best! I legit am from Indiana. The land of dive bars and stool rats. They have Malort.
